Our huipil totes are made from handwoven, recycled Mayan huipiles and genuine suede leather. These huipiles (or blouses as we call them) are intricately detailed, take up to 5 months to weave, are all one of a kind, and often tell a story about the weaver and where she's from. Often weaving is the only skill these women possess and make very little money to support their families. We purchase these huipiles directly from the women and turn them into bags giving them a sustainable income. All totes are lined inside, have an inside pocket and a zipper closure. Textile is the same on both sides.
